I'd say I first started absolutely loving this band about 5 years ago, and it kind of stuck with me. The band from LA, first formed in 1981, by guitarist and my love Nikki Sixx, andTommy Lee. Mick Mars then joined the band, followed by Vince Neil. Notably this band, unlike many others, although went on multiple hiatuses, never changed the core members, making the band so authentic. This band is the epitome of sex, drugs and rock and roll, as they abused and used drugs, women, and anything else they could get their hands on. The band released multiple albums which include Shout at the Devil, Theatre of Pain, Girls, Girls, Girls, Dr. Feelgood, Decade of Decadence ( compilation album), Generation Swine, Red White, and Crue (which was another compilation album with a few new songs).
The band went through a lot of turmoil during their heyday of success which includes, multiple drug and alcohol binges, drug overdoses (Nikki was pronounced dead during an overdose), car crashes, band fights. During the era of glam rock, this band really possessed the ability to draw listeners to their music, and give off a feel good, fun, rock vibe. I began my infatuation with Nikki Sixx after reading Heroine Diaries, which is an amazing book written by Nikki Sixx. This book, features journal entries that Nikki wrote during his darkest time while on Heroine during the creation of Girls, Girls Girls in 1987. I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone as it not only features his entries, but commentary from other members of the band, and what they whitnessed during Nikki's hard time. The band, 30 years later, has accomplished so much, from reality television, sobriety, a comeback tour, solo and side projects, and so many other amazing accomplishments, I truly love and cherish this band. Here's one of my favourite songs by the band off their 1987 album Girls, Girls Girls. Hope you enjoy, peace babes!
